What else can you use a brides maid dress for?

Within the next year, I am going to be in at least 3 weddings. I know that I will be spending a lot of money on the dresses, which I don’t have a problem with. I am excited to be able to support my friends. But, I can’t help but wonder, when else would you use a brides maid dress? What other occasions in life would warrant such attire?
