Is it traditional in American weddings for brides and grooms to exchange gifts?
Karen J asked:
I ask because on Platinum weddings they sometimes exchange gifts. I have never heard of this. Is it unusual or common? If it is common then what kind of gifts are exchanged?
I should have been more specific. I was thinking of gift wrapped/boxed gifts like jewelry not rings, kisses, love or their bodies.
Also, Platinum Weddings is a tv show on WEtv about over the top expensive weddings.

Ask a wedding consultant and you might find that the American tradition is to exchange gifts. More than 2,000 traditions exist for American weddings, and new ones keep getting added. The more fancy the wedding, the more elaborate and expensive the traditions.
In its barest forms, there are two major wedding gifts with beating hearts. Two people give themselves to each other. Add rings, that will be four. I think beyond that it is a matter between two people.
